MBT Retail Marketing (Field) Coordinator (RMC)
Overview: The purpose of this position Retail Marketing Coordinator is to support the strategic sales and marketing efforts of MBT Territory Managers and their key accounts. Specifically this role is to ensure the sell-through of MBT footwear by supporting our accounts via product training, visual merchandising, in-store events and inventory management. From a qualitative perspective, the goal of this new position is to foster personal (business) relationships with these accounts to build long-term, trustworthy and healthy partnerships.
Candidates are required to have a retailing, sales or marketing background, and of course be savvy when it comes to customer service. Fundamentally, this role is about service.
There are five main components to this position:
1. PRODUCT TRAINING 2. SALES TRAINING 3. VISUAL MERCHANDISING 4. INVENTORY MANAGEMENT 5. MARKETING PROGRAMS & EVENT SUPPORT
In addition, the role also requires the RMC to establish and maintain timely and consistent relationships with their TM, Direct Manager and other internal team members. The RMC must have a solid understanding of the footwear retailing business and able to maximize the sales and marketing opportunities for the brand. The person should be able to constantly ask smart questions and provide solutions to improve the presentation, training and stock position of the brand within each account.
PRODUCT TRAINING Facilitate consistent product trainings to retail sales team Ensure key product features and benefits are reviewed and reinforced Provide general knowledge about the brand and brand direction Ensure sales team understands unique selling process of MBTs Reviews current line and when appropriate future season line Provide necessary training leave-behinds (manuals, brochures, stockroom posters etc.) Makes sure floor samples are clean and up to date
SALES TRAINING Educate and train retail sales team on MBT best practices for selling footwear Encourage role-play training in order to handle challenging situations and customers In collaboration with Marketing Department, create incentive programs to gain increased excitement and motivation
VISUAL MERCHANDISING Maximize space opportunity for MBT wall, floor or combined to ensure optimal product positioning Ensures current MBT P.O.P. is being utilized Take advantage of additional in-store merchandising opportunities such as windows, lease-line signs etc. Train sales associates on MBT visual merchandising guidelines
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT Review of accounts stock position; communicate with account TM about status; make recommendations to TM by analyzing product movement Receive and track sell-through information on all styles over planned time period Provide suggestions on ways to increase product turn-over Provide sales success stories to TM and share best practices with other RMCs
MARKETING PROGRAMS & EVENT SUPPORT Manage and facilitate corporate approved event days Ensure all marketing program or event tools are in place on-time and properly set-up Support and attend key field events as requested by corporate events group
Below is a list of some of the required reports that will be submitted either weekly or monthly: Weekly call sheet Hot product and trend report (top sellers and slow movers) Visual merchandising review and photos Monthly business review form
Qualifications Requirements for the position include: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Merchandising or a related field 4 years experience in retail, sales, buying, planning and/or customer service 2 years additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree 1 year of field sales experience is preferred Ability to prepare, plan and deliver presentations Ability to understood financial data to make decisions and influence sales Experience delivering high level of customer service Ability to handle multiple projects and work in an autonomous environment with little direction or supervision Background that reflects proven results Strong communication skills and ability to interface at all levels of a business via phone and written/verbal communication Visual Merchandising experience is preferred Training experience is a plus Proficiency working with reports and maintaining accuracy of data Ability to travel up to 60% of the time, including spending multiple nights and/or weekends away from home Ability to work varied business hours, including some weekends Ability to physically lift heavy objects and set-up displays Possess a valid drivers license and automobile insurance Intermediate level proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint Understanding of seasonal assortments, forecasts and scenario plans is preferred Knowledge of sales programs, policies and procedures is preferred Understanding of marketplace, customers and industry trends is preferred
